Everyday Shed Anchoring Kit
Secure Your Shed Before the Next Storm
Your shed represents a real investment. High winds and storms can shift, lift, or even tip an unsecured shed.
The Everyday Shed Anchoring Kit gives homeowners a simple way to lock their shed to the ground using heavy-duty anchors, aircraft cable, and professional-grade Gripple wire tensioners.
Unlike traditional anchor systems that require cutting cable or complicated adjustments, the Gripple tensioners work like a zip tie for steel cable, allowing you to tighten the system quickly and securely.
Designed to work with sheds sitting directly on the ground or elevated up to 24 inches, this kit covers the anchoring needs of most backyard sheds.
Built for Strength
Each anchor in the system can hold up to approximately 1,100 lbs before failure depending on soil conditions.
With four anchors securing your shed, the system provides strong resistance against shifting or uplift caused by wind.
What’s Included
Every kit includes everything needed to anchor a typical backyard shed:
- 4 x Ground Anchors
- 4 × 96" lengths of 5/32" aircraft cable
- 4 x Gripple Plus Wire Tensioners
- 1 x Gripple Release Key
Not Included: 1/2" Rebar (#4) 48" length to drive in the anchors. I also prefer a 4 lb sledge for driving the anchors into the ground.
Simple Installation
Installation can typically be completed in under an hour.
- Drive anchors 30"–36" deep into the ground near the corners of your shed.
- Run the aircraft cable from the anchor to the shed frame.
- Feed the cable through the Gripple tensioner.
- Pull the cable tight until the shed is secure.
The Gripple tensioner locks automatically and allows easy adjustment if needed.
Check with your local building code, but in most locations, 4 anchors is ideal for a shed up to 10'x12' in dimensions.
Important Installation Notes
- Always locate underground utilities before driving anchors.
- Anchor holding strength varies depending on soil type and conditions.
- Recommended anchor depth is 30"–36".
Ideal For
This kit works well for:
- backyard storage sheds
- garden sheds
- small workshops
- sheds on gravel pads
- sheds elevated on blocks or platforms
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this work if my shed is elevated?
Yes. The adjustable aircraft cable allows the system to work whether your shed is on the ground or elevated up to approximately 24 inches.
How strong are the anchors?
Each anchor can hold up to approximately 1,100 lbs before failure, depending on soil conditions.
Do I need special tools?
No specialty tools are required beyond what is typically used to drive the anchors into the ground. We recommend a 1/2" piece of rebar 48" in length that you can get at any home improvement store.
Can the cable be adjusted later?
Yes. The included Gripple release key allows the tensioner to be loosened if adjustments are needed.

These are really well made and are quite easy to install. At least here in the FL panhandle with all our sandy soil. Took me about 20 minutes to install all four and that included a short break to let my hand recover from a misplaced blow of the 3 pound sledge....
This is relatively easy to install and I think it will do a good job.
One thing I didn’t do but should have done: I should have used the longe piece of rebar to drill a “pilot hole” before putting the anchor on the end of the rebar to drive it in. That would have helped to avoid buried rocks and roots and the like, that prevent the anchor from going as deep as possible.
Great product, easy to install
Easy to install. I love the gripper system!
I bought two sets, one for my shed and one for a playset I built for my grandkids.ive had my shed for a fee years so I had to retro fit the anchors. It sits on a packed gravel pad and the anchors were still able to penetrative into the ground below. It's a bit of work but worth the peace of mind.
